Tips for using essential oils in cleaning of your homes

Orange oil is often used as a furniture polish because it will moisturize the furniture wood. It is always best to get a good oil that is designed just for this purpose. This will make sure that you will not damage your wood around the house.

Do not mistake essential oils with aroma therapy oils. The aroma therapy products are petroleum based products intended for use with massage oils or candles.

Rather than using the regular essential oils. It is a good idea to use blends such as the essential oil “Purification”. These can be a blend of eucalyptus, lemon grass, citronella, myrtle along with many other essential types of oils.

Make sure and always get pure essential oils, instead of petroleum style oils. Pure Essential Oils will always produce the highest results. You can easily test these oils. Try putting about two or three drops on some blotting type paper and letting it dry. Pure essential oils will leave no residue on the blotting paper. A petroleum-type oil will leave a visible stain on the paper.

Use care when using essential oils. These formulas are very concentrated, and can cause a multitude of  uncomfortable things to your skin, like rashes. They also are very harmful to your eyes.

Keep essential oils away from children, animals and open flames. Some oils can be considered harmful to pregnant women.

As a general precaution, we try to avoid exaggerated doses to prevent possible irritations and even allergies. And, of course, keep in mind that natural herbs or fruits, that is, fresh or dried, would do a similar function, so we can also use them as an alternative.

What’s more, combining plants and oils with the typical green hygiene products gives us all the power of nature. We will not need air fresheners or chemical insecticides, environmentally contaminants and harmful to health.
